OrthoMax: Orthopedic Support for People with Real Back Problems
You know the strain that builds when your chair can’t support your back. Long hours turn into stiffness, pressure and that constant dull ache. You shift, stretch and hope it eases, but it never does.
Feel the Difference Real Support Makes
Now imagine the opposite. Picture a chair that adjusts to YOUR body instead of forcing your body to adjust to it. A chair designed to relieve pressure, support your spine and help you sit in comfort.
The OrthoMax closes the gap between the discomfort you feel now and the relief you’ve been looking for. It adapts to your body, giving your spine the support it needs to stay aligned and relaxed through the longest workdays.
Give your back the support it has been missing. The OrthoMax provides advanced back support tailored to your body.
Why the OrthoMax Stands Apart
This chair is engineered for people who need more than a standard ergonomic office chair. Its advanced adjustments allow you to shape your own comfort, helping you reduce pressure on your spine and sit with ease for longer. What is an orthopedic office chair and how is it different to an ergonomic one?
The OrthoMax closes the gap between the discomfort you feel now, and the relief you’ve been looking for.

- Executive and General Offices
- Call Centres
- Home Offices
- Meeting and Boardrooms
- People with chronic back pain who need a chair with greater adjustability than a standard ergonomic office chair provides.

How the OrthoMax adjustment features provide comfort and back pain relief.
1. Backrest adjustment
We work in different positions, and we all have a preferred seated posture.
The backrest on the OrthoMax can be adjusted in three distinctive ways to specifically suit your spine and prevent or reduce lower and upper back pain.
The free-float mechanism enables you to adjust the backrest angle to match your preferred working posture. The backrest can be securely locked in various positions, or it can be left in an unlocked, free-floating mode. In this mode, the backrest remains in constant contact with your back and adapts to your movements. The backrest is height adjustable, which together with the inflatable lumbar cushion, allows you to position the lumbar support precisely where you need it.
2. Seat Adjustment
a. Seat Angle
The OrthoMax is designed with an adjustable seat angle, permitting a forward slope of up to 5 degrees. This adjustment lowers the knees in relation to the hips, thereby “opening” the pelvis.
Sitting with an open pelvis facilitates a more natural curvature of the spine and reduces the pressure on the lumbar discs. Consequently, this reduces the probability of experiencing lower back pain during prolonged periods of sitting. What actually happens to your body when you sit?
b. Seat depth adjustment
The seat slider incorporated in the OrthoMax enables you to finely adjust the seat depth, allowing you to move the seat pan backward or forward to align it with the length of your thighs.
When you are seated comfortably with your back against the backrest of the chair, there should be a 2-3 finger gap between the front edge of the seat and the back of your knees. This practice not only prevents strain behind the knees, but also provides optimal upper leg and under thigh support, promoting good blood circulation.
- For taller individuals with longer legs, a seat slider allows you to INCREASE the seat depth, thereby maintaining a correct ergonomic seated posture. Conversely, a shorter person should consider REDUCING the seat depth. If the seat is excessively long (deep), anyone with shorter legs might find themselves sitting on the front edge of the seat, leading to a lack of adequate back support.
- If you have a coccyx-related issue, a chair with seat depth adjustment can be invaluable. The seat slider allows you to position the seat depth to alleviate pressure on the coccyx, thereby improving comfort while sitting.
3. Armrest adjustment
The armrests on the OrthoMax are multi-adjustable, allowing you to position the supporting pads for optimum comfort.
In addition to vertical height adjustment, the arm pads can be adjusted horizontally (width), and also pivoted inwards or outwards.

The OrthoMax has a Free-Float mechanism that promotes Dynamic Sitting.
Dynamic sitting occurs in an office chair that is fitted with a mechanism that allows the angle between the backrest and seat to change. By continuously changing this angle, you automatically stimulate, or activate various muscles in your lower back, core and legs. As a result, the blood flow through these muscles increases, bringing oxygen and other nutrients to the muscles and carrying away the waste products of muscle metabolism. By doing so, muscle fatigue and it’s associated pain is reduced, particularly in the lower back, core and legs.
An Orthopedic Chair is recommended for anyone who has chronic lower back pain. An orthopedic chair must have a forward-tilting seat function that reduces the rotation of the pelvis when sitting down. This decreases the disc pressure in the lumbar region of the back while you are seated. Compared to an ergonomic chair, an orthopedic chair has additional features to ensure the chair can be adjusted to specifically address chronic lower back pain. What is an orthopedic chair?

Great service from ordering to delivery. Awesome product
Fanus –
Worth the expense. It is definitely the most expensive office chair I have bought, but my recent back injury made it clear that I need to prioritize my health. The ortho max chair has every conceivable adjustment necessary to sit for prolonged hours. It’s early days, but I am sure this will assist in my road to recovery! Quick and efficient delivery..
Lauren –

Nivash Daya –
I was initially hesitant about spending this much on a chair, but needed to do it in response to a physical condition. It works and feels great, and my back pain seems to be entirely alleviated using the chair
Stephen Varty –
This chair is a real pleasure to sit and work from. I have never had a more comfortable chair. The back support is really good and supportive. Working at my desk is now something I no longer dread.
Maurice Azzie –
Fantastic from the website to the bum in seat. Great experience dealing with this company from start to end. Great quality product. Just had Micro dischetomy surgery on l5 S1 and this chair is the ticket to being able to sit comfortably without pressure on that lumbar spine. Just love the chair. Way to go guys. Excellent. Made a problem for my small business. Now everyone in the office wants one.😁
Zipho –
The best decision I made was to visit the showroom. I almost bought the wrong chair online that would have been too huge for my body type. Visiting the showroom was such a lovely experience; I learned a lot about ergonomics and got to try other chairs, but this was the best for my needs and body type.
I now look forward to working from home, as my workstation has this chair. I love taking meetings and reclining my chair to sit back and listen. My favourite functions of this chair are the inflatable lumbar cushion and seat angle adjustment (forward tilt). It’s truly the best investment.
Surina Basdeo –
The moment I sat on this chair I immediately felt the difference. I struggle with back pain. After using it for only a week I can already see I won’t be needing so much physio. I look forward to work now.
The support and guidance from the staff was exceptional as well, such a pleasure dealing with karo.
I was skeptical about spending this much on a chair but it is well worth it .
