No Butts about it – Karo’s latest foam seating technology sets a new standard in ergonomic comfort, support and cushioning. Our new DUAL DENSITY seat foam has a firm inner core surrounded by a softer outer foam layer. The combination of these two layers improves your posture and reduces backache and muscle fatigue.

Moulded foam has long been recognised by ergonomists, occupational health, and medical professionals as being able to deliver the best support and cushioning. Dual Density foam adds an extra dimension by providing even better support and comfort exactly where you need it.

A dual density foam seat provides an extraordinary level of comfort.

The conical high-density foam insert has a cut-away shape for the coccyx to reduce pressure on the tail bone.

By adding a gradual slope towards the front of the seat, your knees drop slightly below the level of your hips to “open” the pelvis. By doing so, pressure in the lumbar discs is reduced which decreases lower back pain and improves blood flow. What actually happens when you sit?

How does it work?

The firm conical shape of the DUAL DENSITY seat pinpoints load absorption and Indentation Load Deflections (*ILD). This allows the higher density foam to “push back” against your weight and prevents the foam from collapsing or “bottoming out”. By doing so, the natural curvature of the spine is maintained which prevents slouching and reduces the chance of lower back and sciatic nerve pain.

Chairs with inferior seat foam can contribute to slouching. Slouching can cause backaches, headaches, fatigue and poor concentration. Improving your posture increases blood flow to the brain. By supplying the brain with more oxygen, you improve concentration and overall productivity. Read about the 5 consequences of sitting on the wrong chair.

*ILD – Indentation Load Deflection – the measure of how much pressure it takes to compress foam to 25% of its thickness.
