Why Do You Need A Footrest?
A footrest may be a small part of a workstation, but it can make a meaningful difference to comfort and posture. Consider using a footrest when the chair must be raised to suit the desk, but your feet can no longer rest firmly on the floor. What is the correct height of my office chair, desk and monitor?
A footrest is essential for shorter individuals using a standard fixed-height desk, and for hot-desking environments where the desks are not height adjustable.
Without proper foot support, you may slide forward in the chair or experience increased pressure beneath the thighs. This can contribute to poor posture and discomfort in the legs, hips, and lower back.
The Step-Up Footrest for sitting or standing at work
A healthy sitting position at your desk means your feet are flat on the floor, your knees are slightly lower than your hips, your lower back is supported, your elbows are bent at about 90 degrees, and your forearms are supported on the armrests or the surface of the desk.
If you are shorter than average and you are using a desk that is not height adjustable, trying to sit in this position is often not possible as your feet don't reach the floor. In such cases a footrest is essential to support your feet and legs.
